Certifications Offered

  • Certified Christian Labor Doula (CCLD)
  • Certified Christian Birth Educator (CCBE)


Certification Facts

  • Level Two and higher membership covers all fees, no other fees required.  Once you enroll, you will
    not have to pay anything else until it is time to renew your membership.
  • If you have already joined as a member and upgrade to a higher level, you will only have to pay the
    difference of what you have already paid.
  • All programs require study and testing
  • Level 2 requires correspondence study on a weekly basis
  • Must complete the requirements for certification
  • Must pass the quizzes and final exam with an 80% or above
  • Must maintain active membership with Cascade
  • Certification good for three years from the date you are officially certified
  • Must complete requirements for recertification

    Step One:          
    * Send a letter of intent by email
       * Become a professional member of Cascade  

    Part Two
    (Correspondence Course)
    * Read the Training Modules & complete quizzes with 80%+ grade


    Part Three
    (Practical Assessment)

    * Complete three short Christian Childbirth book reviews

    Doula Only
    * Submit 3 evaluations for three separate births of which you were the primary
    Doula.  Include one from the parents, one from the attendant (nurse or student
    midwife), and one from the provider for each birth.  (Must be within the last 2 years)
    FORMS

    Childbirth Educator Only
    * Submit documentation of 12 hours of teaching experience to a group
       of 3 or more.
       
Dual certification will require submission of both practical requirements.

    Part Four
    (Finalization)
    * Submit all documents in one packet with the Certification

    Cascade will review the Certification Program Packet and send a certificate
    designating you as a Christian Certified Labor Doula (CCLD).  

    Certification Extension

    We understand that life happens and you may not always be able to complete the  requirements for
    certification. In this situation, we will review your application for an extension on a case-by-case basis.  
    Members may extend for no more than 18 months after their enrollment.

    Recertification Requirements

    The Cascade Christian Childbirth Certification is valid for three years.  To continue your certification after the
    three years, you will need to submit a Recertification Packet which you may apply for in your third year of
    certification.  Requirements include:  

    1. A 500 word personal statement discussing what God has taught you about Christian childbirth since
    becoming certified.
    2. A 400 word review of a book on Christian Childbirth, other than the ones you read for previous
    certifications.
    3. Two letters of recommendation from families you have worked with while certified.
    4. Proof of activity during the three years you were certified
    5. Recertification processing fee of $50.

    I just finished reading the first two modules and I am overcome with joy in
    the Holy Spirit for what He is speaking through Kelly! Praise Jesus!  I feel the
    balanced, beautiful nature of the Lord coming through her words. This is

    last paragraph in Lesson 3 - module 3 is powerful. This classwork and reading is
    awesome. I love the way she blends the medical with the spiritual. I'm learning so

    I continue to be blessed and awed at the wisdom from the Lord in your curriculum
    and in your book.  I am reading, Christ Centered Childbirth and I just read the
    chapter, "It's a God thing".  This was very exciting to me to see the correlations
    between stages of pregnancy, the Christian walk and the Feasts of Israel.  Surely the
