My name is Jennifer and my husband John and I live in the small
East Texas town of Gilmer. We attend First Baptist Church in Gilmer
where I am also involved in the leadership of our MOPS group. With
each of our four children I had a variety of birth experiences - from
pitocin, epidurals, and episiotomies, to non-interventive natural births.
Each birth was special in it's own way and grew in me a passion to help
other mothers move through the experience of pregnancy, birth, and the
postpartum period with joy, excitement, and confidence. As a Christian
I see this time in a woman's life (and in a marriage or family) as a time
that I believe the Lord intended to be incredibly rich with opportunities
for spiritual growth. In my classes and while providing labor support I
work with each couple to help them grow closer to the Lord and to each
other through the process. I have also provided labor support for single and unwed moms. In fact, these have been
some of the most rewarding births I have had the privilege to attend. I originally obtained my college degree to teach
junior high and high school Biology and Health - however, it didn't take long before I discovered that my real desire
was to work with new and expectant parents. Currently, I teach childbirth education, breastfeeding, and newborn care
at an area hospital as well as classes at a free-standing birth center. I also offer small group childbirth classes
(Christian and secular) as the occasion or need arises. I have provided labor support in nearly all the hospitals in the
Longview and Tyler area as well as at one area birthing center and have had positive experiences at all facilities. If you
