I am there for you to help with household chores, holding the baby,
processing your birth experience, establishing breastfeeding, learning
baby care, or running errands, or giving you a break.

What Is Included

- I can help you create a birth plan that helps communicate your wishes to your care provider.

- I can put you in touch with local resources, such as a massage therapist, midwife, chiropractor, or breastfeeding
support group near you.

- I will help you to fulfill your birth plan to the best of my ability. I am there for you, to be an advocate for YOU! I can
be your support, but I cannot argue or usurp the physician on your behalf.  I do encourage you, however, to take
control of your birth experience to make educated decisions that will help make your birth more positive and enjoyable.

- I will provide emotional and physical support during your labor.

- I will provide comfort measures and coping strategies for dealing well with labour. (This includes massage, breathing,
visualizations, the birth ball, shower/water therapy, hot/cold therapies, change of position, walking, and discussions of
whether or not you want pain medications and at what point. We will discuss your preferences before the birth.)

- I am NOT there to replace your husband, but rather the most joyous part of being a doula in my opinion is the honor of
helping the parents grow closer during the experience by equipping the father to be the primary support person during
the birth, and at his comfort level.

- I do NOT make decisions for you, however I will offer information for you to make better decisions.

- I do NOT speak to medical staff regarding matters where health care decisions are being made. I can discuss your
concerns with you and suggest options. I can support you in discussions with staff as your advocate, making sure you
have the opportunity to discuss concerns, but you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the medical staff.

- I will stay with you throughout your entire delivery and for at least the first one to two hours postpartum, unless you
request otherwise ahead of time.

- I will be happy to take pictures of and/or video for you of your birth, however if it distracts from my ability to serve
you in labor, this role will have to be filled by a loved one.

- I am available for a postpartum visit if you wish and will help you establish breastfeeding. (If more extended
postpartum services are needed, please discuss this with me and we can make arrangements for my continuing support
as a postpartum doula for additional fees.)

- I am available to answer questions at any time. Don't hesitate to call or e-mail me with ANY concerns. I am available,
as your doula 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I do not charge for phone consultations.

Natural Childbirth Education Classes

The Full Course - $75

1. Mechanics of childbirth
2. Labor Begins: First Stage Labor
3. Second/Third Stage Labor
4. Choices in Childbirth
5. Natural Childbirth & Practice
6. Comfort Measures & Coaching
7. Breastfeeding / Newborn

Classes meet once a week, for three hours a class, and are seven weeks long.

Childbirth classes are offered out of my home, because I want to be able to teach you all that you need to know for your
upcoming birth. As an independent childbirth educator, I work for you and not a doctor's office or hospital. Traditional
hospital lamaze classes are large in size, brief in content, and give you information on how you can be a good patient.
These classes have a very low success rate of their students actually achieving natural childbirth, whereas this class has
over a 90% success rate, which is in line with the World Health Organization's expected birth outcomes.

If you are looking for a class that instead teaches you the full spectrum needed to make informed decisions, as well as a
class that gives you the tools to actually achieve natural childbirth, then the independent childbirth education series may
be what you are looking for.  Small in size and in a personal setting, you are free to ask all your questions, discuss with
each other various topics and ideas, and prepare for yourself the confidence needed for a positive and rewarding birth
experience.
