Bernadette lives on the Treasure Coast, Florida with her
husband Jim and is expecting their 12th child. Eight children
still live at home. She is a postpartum nurse, a certified birth
doula (DONA), and childbirth educator. She has served as a
doula since 1996. Bernadette is also president of Gentle
Spirit Doulas, Inc., a Christian support group of women providing doula services, and
editor of Mother to Mother, a Christian based birth and breastfeeding journal for
parents and their healthcare providers, published since 1999.

My name is Lisa, I am wife to David and we have 2 sons. My husband is a
chiropractor and we embrace a holistic way of life. I am a high-risk mom (type 1
diabetes) so I can identify with those who have to swim uphill in the medical model ,
but always believe in the ideal non-medical model and have been blessed to have
been a part of seeing the way the Lord intended it. My desire is to empower,
encourage and educate moms so they are able to have the birth they envision. I
offer doula services to the Ocala and Gainesville areas.

My first experience with supporting a woman through
labor came as a student nurse over thirty years ago !
Although the technology and management of labor has
changed greatly since then, the joy and wonder of birth
remain. I have woven the disciplines of nursing,
childbirth education and counseling into a supportive
web for my doula clients. I consider it an honor to assist
women and their families during this very important life event.
I have been married to Greg (great guy!) since 1970, we have three (now adult)
children, three grandchildren (one in heaven), and one due to be born in March
2007.
