I was 30 when I had my first baby. Since my mother was a midwife and I
had trained as a nurse, I had a vague idea about childbirth. But I was not
prepared for what an intriguing journey of discovery and what an amazing
adventure I was in for. Even among Christians, I heard things like, "Just turn
the music up really loud to drown out the screaming". But then God showed
me in His Word that He had a better plan - that He actually intended
childbirth as a joy, a blessing and a reward. Not punishment. Not suffering. Not penance. Learning about active birth, natural birth and
undisturbed birth confirmed what His Word said - that He has perfectly designed us to do beautifully and valiantly. I know God loves birthing
women and that assurance fills me with His love for birthing women, too. I know that wherever you are at on your journey, God loves you, He
wants to help you, He wants to bless you. After 16 years on the mission field in Asia, I am now back in Australia with my awesome American
husband Doug and our three little 'Princess Warriors' - all born at home (well that's not strictly accurate .... one was born in a shopping mall ...
but that's another story ...) My Doula training is through Optimum Birth. The fellowship of the Cascade Christian Childbirth Association has
been a big part of my journey to becoming a Doula. For me, it is an absolute pleasure and a privilege to serve birthing families. Whether you
choose natural birth or a medically assisted birth; at home, in hospital or at a birthing centre, I am available to accompany you and support you
